Daniela Kammrath

Daniela Fugaru Kammrath (born on June 30, 1968) is a native of Bucharest, Romania. She is a graduate of the “Ion Neculce” High School and the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, School of Electronics and Telecommunications (1990). She works as an engineer and a journalist for Radio Romania (1990–1994). She is a graduate of a BBC radio journalism course and leads the activity of Steven Spielberg’s Shoah Foundation in Romania, during which time she coordinates the shooting of a documentary with Holocaust survivors in Romania (1998–1999).

Mrs. Kammrath is a founding member of the International Women’s Association, the Romanian chapter (1998–2000) and a co-founder of a site about the sensational women’s community, www.121.ro (2001). She is a founding partner and an executive director of the MK Co., specialized in advertising, marketing, digital concepts and initiatives (1994–2015), then becomes an executive director at the Alianţa/The Alliance Foundation (2015–2018). Later on, she works as a community project director for this foundation (from 2018). She is currently living and working in Washington, DC.

I had the opportunity to meet Mrs. Daniela Kammrath on November 16, 2018, at the Romanian Embassy in Washington, DC, during a gala-symposium on issues of politics, security, management and culture, an event sponsored by the ALIANȚA (The Alliance — The Friends of the Romanian-American Alliance) Foundation.

On that occasion, Mrs. Daniela Kammrath was kind enough to give me a brief interview.

1. Mr. Bill Avery is now the Executive Director of the Alliance and you are the Community Projects Director. Can you briefly introduce the organization for our magazine readers?

We are a non-profit organization operating on the territory of the United States and we want to strengthen the ties between America and Romania, to promote Romania here in all possible ways — economically, culturally, socially, and from the business point of view — and we are involved in various projects and organize this gala every year this gala, by which we recognize various people who have contributed substantially to this Romanian-American partnership.

2. Thank you. Since you have become the Community Project Director, what projects has the Alliance had so far?

Now we are consolidating the community projects on culture, the Romanian language projects — with the Romanian language schools — and the film festival projects. We have done an extensive research to see which these are in the United States. We support the other projects, we claim that, with a mission to support projects that have already transmitted a first access to information, access to the community, we should create such meetings where people can connect and help each other, and we support the projects that they have.

3. The last question. What plans do you have for the future?

In general, after these meetings and the gala have taken place, the entire board of the organization meets — we work based on the decisions made by the board — and we make the strategy for next year, now this strategy will be established after the gala and I will be able to tell you more details probably towards the end of the year [2018] or at the beginning of 2019.

4. Very interesting. Thank you very much for everything.

Thank you.
